What is Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Technology (EPAT)?

Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Technology (EPAT), also known as Shockwave Therapy or ESWT, is a clinically proven, non-invasive treatment for pain management. This advanced technology uses pressure waves to stimulate the body’s metabolism, improve blood circulation, and accelerate the healing process. As a result, damaged tissue gradually regenerates and heals, offering an effective alternative to surgery.

How Does EPAT Work?

EPAT works by delivering high-energy pressure waves to the affected area, promoting tissue healing. These waves increase blood flow, enhance cell metabolism, and stimulate the regeneration of damaged tissue. Over the course of 3-5 in-office sessions, each lasting approximately 5-10 minutes, EPAT encourages the healing process in the treated area. Sessions are typically spaced one week apart.

Conditions Treated with EPAT

EPAT has been shown to be effective in treating a variety of foot and ankle conditions, including:

  • Plantar Fasciitis (Heel Pain): EPAT is commonly used to treat chronic heel pain caused by inflammation of the plantar fascia.
  • Achilles Tendonitis/Tendonosis: This treatment helps relieve pain and promote healing in the Achilles tendon.
  • Stiffness After Ankle Sprains: EPAT can accelerate recovery and reduce stiffness following an ankle sprain.
  • Shin Splints: EPAT can provide relief for pain in the front of the lower leg, commonly seen in runners or athletes.

Why Choose EPAT?

EPAT is an excellent alternative to surgery, offering several benefits:

  • Non-invasive: No incisions, needles, or anesthesia are required.
  • Quick sessions: Most treatments last between 5-10 minutes.
  • Minimal downtime: Patients can return to normal activities shortly after treatment.
  • Clinically proven results: EPAT has shown success in treating a variety of musculoskeletal pain conditions.
