An Endocscopic Plantar Fascitiotomy is a surgical procedure to treat plantar fasciitis.
In a small percentage of patients, heel pain caused by plantar fasciitis cannot be relieved with conservative treatment. If this is the case, the surgery is indicated. This surgical procedure is highly effective with a quick recovery time compared to other surgical procedures.
The surgery involves 2 small incisions on either side of the heel. A camera is utilized to visualize the plantar fascia, and a sharp instrument is used to “release” the plantar fascia.
Patient are able to walk on the surgically operated extremity the same day. They are moved into a regular sneaker a few days later, and sutures are removed at 2 weeks post-operatively.
The benefits of this procedure include the simple post operative period, the ease of the procedure, and the success rate of the surgery.
